Interactive Nexus Simulation at Kazakh-German University

As a professional entity for specialists in any field, universities have exceptional potential to "lay the groundwork" and reinforce cross-sectoral thinking. Through the organization of interdisciplinary working platforms and the involvement of leading experts, young environmentalists, engineers, economists, financiers, programmers, IT specialists can work on non-standard and new solutions to long overdue problems. For example: 1) how to reduce siltation of reservoirs, 2) how to provide water in mountain regions, 3) planting the dried bottom of the Aral Sea 4) preserving the wetland ecosystem in the face of growing urban infrastructure and much more.

As a first step in this direction, the European Union funded project "Nexus Dialogue in Central Asia" together with the USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity is expanding its cooperation with educational institutions, in particular entities for advanced training of government officials and institutes that train WEF specialists. The project offers to explore the Nexus approach through an interactive game in the Training of Trainers (ToT) format.
