Participants were informed about the main objective of the CAMP4ASB project and discussed opportunities for cooperation.

CAMP4ASB is a five-year project, which aimed to enhance regionally coordinated access to improved climate change knowledge services for key stakeholders in the Central Asian countries, as well as to increased investments and capacity building that will address climate challenges, which are common to these countries. The project comprises the following partners: The World Bank, Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) and National Partners of Central Asia.

CAREC has proposed the following areas for cooperation in the framework of the CAMP4ASB project, including:

- contribution to the strengthening of the regional information platform

- support development of the methodologies, approaches and tools and the participation in the Review Committee to discuss methodologies and information products

- support in formulation of capacity building programmes and trainings at the regional / national levels.

The representatives of the NAS expressed their interest in strengthening the partnership with CAREC, including its megaprojects, as well as in setting-up of coalitions. The latter aims to provide support in advocating climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts using interdisciplinary approach for water, energy and agriculture.

For reference:

The NAS is formed in Central Asia under CAREC initiative to provide academic knowledge, research development, modern methods and technologies in the field of integrated water resources management. The network includes representatives of universities, training institutes and training centers.
