National celebration of Syr Darya River Day in Tajikistan

On September 13, more than 70 local officials, residents and students gathered on the banks of the Isfara River in Tajikistan to celebrate Syr Darya River Day with a river clean-up activity. Together, they removed more than 40 bags of trash.

In the afternoon, the celebration continued with an exhibition of water-themed drawings and essays from local students, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, local authorities, and basin council members on how to improve the condition and management of the Syr Darya River.
