National celebration of Syr Darya River Day in Uzbekistan

The USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity organized a Syr Darya River Day celebration in Namangan to call attention to the need for improved transboundary cooperation in water management. Under the theme “Syr Darya–A River of Friendship,” the events in Namangan raised awareness about water and climate challenges confronting the region and the importance of joint action to ensure future economic prosperity and water security for Central Asia.

As a part of the celebration, the USAID Activity handed out awards to the winners in youth competitions for best essay, poem and drawing to appreciate the significant role that youth will play in future water management.
