In the new academic semester of 2024, the Department of Regional Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) started a new discipline "Water Issues in Central Asia" for 1st year undergraduates.

It is noteworthy that the initiative to launch the discipline was promoted by a member of the Network of Academic Societies based on the materials of the Training on Water Diplomacy and International Water Law, which took place on November 21-23, 2023 on the joint initiative of the USAID Central Asia’s Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).

"We believe that this topic is very relevant, and will allow us to train specialists who will solve problems in this area in the future," said Aigerim Ospanova, PhD, Professor, Head of the Department of Regional Studies at the Faculty of International Relations, L.N. Gumilyov ENU.
