Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus Lecture: Influence of the COP26 on promotion of the WEFE Nexus approach in the global arena

In November 2021 Glasgow, United Kingdom, hosted the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26). More than 200 countries participated in the Conference and accepted the Glasgow Climate Pact. This global agreement will accelerate action on climate during the upcoming decade. One of the topics raised during the conference was WEFE Nexus approach and possible contribution of its application while implementing the Glasgow Climate Pact.

  • During the Lecture, we will discuss the following questions:

  • How the nexus-related issues were discussed and promoted within the COP26?

  • What are the benefits of the nexus approach promotion on the global arena?

  • How COP26 can influence on application of nexus approach in different regions, including Central Asia?

  • How can the WEFE Nexus approach help Central Asian countries contribute to the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the actions agreed under the Glasgow Climate Pact?

Please join Mr. Takayoshi KATO, a policy analyst of the Climate Change and Environment department at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Mr. KATO will explore introducing of the WEFE nexus approach and influence of such global platforms as COP26 on practical implementation of the nexus approach.
